areola/nipple complex tattooing
Areola Re-pigmentation for Breast Cancer Survivors.

Areola/Nipple Complex Tattooing, also known as areola re-pigmentation or reconstructive tattooing has been very successful in helping women who have had breast reconstruction surgery by re-pigmenting the skin in the breast area creating the look of an areola and nipple.
Areola re-pigmentation helps to create the illusion of a 3-d areola and nipple and to disguise some scarring—making the breasts appear more natural. Breast cancer survivors who have had a mastectomy are usually in need of areola re-pigmentation.

After a women receives a mastectomy and after the breasts have been reconstructed by a surgeon, a piece of skin or cartilage is taken from another area of the body and a nipple is constructed and attached to the new breast or breasts. This method is not always 100% satisfactory to the patient as the newly constructed nipple and areola may now be a different size and shape compared to the other side and is often void of colour. Some breasts after reconstruction have no nipple at all, just smooth, taut skin.

With areola re-pigmentation or reconstructive tattooing, a-symmetries such as differences in colour, shape and size can be corrected. Each colour is individually mixed for customized results that are designed to look natural for each skin tone.

For many, breast reconstruction and areola re-pigmentation is a good way to feel better about themselves and to make a fresh start in life after a long journey by bringing closure to the process. Many women feel that areola re-pigmentation not only improves the cosmetic appearance of the breast, but also enhances their quality of life.

We highly recommend a colour patch test to determine the right colour choice for you. Selecting a colour takes into account your skin colour and the desired base colour.
